terms of service

these terms are the agreement between you and Lucence Labs (“Lucence,” “we,” “us”), the company behind spot. by texting spot or otherwise using it, you agree to them. if you don't agree, don't use spot. it's an early product, so these terms are written plain - they'll get more formal as it grows.

what spot is

spot is an AI fitness and nutrition coach you talk to over iMessage. it helps you plan meals around your goals, track calories and workouts, and nudges you to stay accountable. it is software. it is not a person, a certified trainer, a registered dietitian, or a medical provider, even though it talks like a coach.

not medical or health advice

this is the important one. spot gives general fitness and nutrition guidance for healthy adults. it is not medical, dietary, or professional health advice, and using it does not create a provider-patient or trainer-client relationship.

• talk to a doctor before starting any diet or training program, especially if you have a medical condition, an eating disorder or history of one, are pregnant or nursing, are under 18, or take medication that affects diet or exercise.
• don't ignore or delay professional medical advice because of something spot said.
• if you think you're having a medical emergency, call your local emergency number. spot can't help with emergencies and isn't monitored in real time.

you're responsible for deciding whether any suggestion is right for your body and your situation. you use spot at your own risk.

spot is AI, and AI gets things wrong

spot's responses are generated by an AI model. it can be wrong, out of date, or miscalculate - including calories, macros, and other numbers. treat what it says as a helpful starting point, not gospel, and sanity-check anything that matters. we don't guarantee any result, outcome, or that the information it gives is accurate or complete.

who can use it

you have to be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to use spot. by using it you confirm you are.

messaging

when you text spot, you're asking to have a conversation with it, which includes receiving proactive messages (nudges, check-ins, reminders). message and data rates from your carrier may apply. you can dial it back or shut it off anytime:

• text “chill” and spot backs off the proactive nudges.
• text “stop” and spot goes quiet entirely.
• ask to delete your data and we wipe it.

using spot the right way

you agree not to:

• use spot for anything illegal, harmful, or abusive
• try to break, overload, reverse-engineer, or get around limits in the service
• impersonate someone else or feed it false info to manipulate it
• use it to give other people coaching or resell it as your own service
• scrape, copy, or rip off the product, its content, or its branding

we can suspend or cut off access if you misuse spot or these terms get broken.

price

spot is free while it's early. we may introduce paid plans later - if we do, we'll tell you before you're charged anything, and you'll get to decide then. nothing here signs you up to pay.

your content

the stuff you send spot (messages, food and workout logs, photos) stays yours. you give us permission to use it to operate and improve spot, as described in the privacy policy. don't send anything you don't have the right to share.

our stuff

spot - the software, the name, the look, the writing - belongs to Lucence Labs. using spot doesn't give you any ownership of it.

no warranty

spot is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. we don't promise it'll always work, be available, be accurate, or be error-free. it's an early product and it may change, break, or go away.

limit on liability

to the fullest extent the law allows, Lucence Labs and Conner aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any harm, loss, or injury arising out of your use of spot or your reliance on anything it tells you. if a court won't enforce that, our total liability to you is capped at the amount you paid us in the past 12 months (which, while spot is free, is zero).

indemnification

you agree to cover us for claims, losses, or costs that come from your misuse of spot or your violation of these terms.

ending it

you can stop using spot anytime - text “stop” or ask us to delete your data. we can suspend or end your access at our discretion, especially for misuse. the parts of these terms that should survive (ownership, disclaimers, liability) keep applying after you stop.

governing law

these terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Colorado.

changes

we'll update these terms as spot grows. if we make a material change, we'll let you know. using spot after a change means you accept the updated terms.
